Sardar Attique Rejects Any Formula to Divide Kashmir, Urges International Attention

City Desk

Islamabad: All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference President and former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir are looking to the international community as Indian atrocities intensify. He questioned the silence of organisations that claim to champion peace and human rights, and said the dispute can only be resolved through the freedom of Kashmir.

Speaking informally at a dinner hosted by Sahibzada Sardar Masood Hayat Khan, he said the Muslim Conference has passed its commitment to accession to Pakistan and the slogan “Kashmir Banega Pakistan” to a third generation. He said the party, in or out of the Legislative Assembly, would never compromise on the State’s distinct identity or its position on accession.

Attique warned that rumours serve neither the freedom movement nor Pakistan’s security interests, and that incorporating only Azad Kashmir into Pakistan could not secure the country’s strategic interests. He urged policymakers to consider the reaction of people in Indian-occupied Kashmir, and called for resolving the dispute through the freedom of the entire State and its eventual accession to Pakistan, rather than any formula leading to its division.

Separately, he visited former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sardar Ijaz Afzal Khan in Rawalpindi to inquire after his health and discuss the political situation.
