PRCS Carries Community Climate Voices from Islamabad to COP31

City Desk

Islamabad: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), supported by the German Red Cross, held a Pre-COP31 event titled “Community Voice to COP31: from Negotiations to Implementation” at its National Headquarters in Islamabad. The aim was to bring the experiences and concerns of climate-affected communities into the global dialogue ahead of COP31.

PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek called climate change a growing humanitarian crisis and urged that community voices shape decisions and investments, with greater funding for preparedness, anticipatory action and adaptation. Secretary General Muhammad Abaidullah Khan said the event would turn community experience into a clear message. German Red Cross representative Emilio Teijeira praised PRCS’s locally led climate action.

The event ran across three zones, featuring a documentary, a theatre performance titled “Tapish,” and a panel discussion on climate policy, finance, adaptation and disaster risk reduction, followed by a Q&A. The Green Action Hub offered recycling booths, a Climate Gallery, a My Climate Pledge Tree and a “Plant a Promise” plantation drive.
