ISLAMABAD :Coke Studio Nu.WAV has released its fourth track, Shabnam, featuring Maanu and Zoha Waseem, produced by Talal Qureshi and co-produced by Maanu. The song explores love, doubt and suspicion through two contrasting perspectives on the same relationship.
The track originated as an unfinished collaboration between Talal Qureshi and Maanu before Zoha Waseem joined the project. Named after morning dew, symbolising something fleeting, Shabnam presents two people experiencing the same relationship differently. Maanu expresses uncertainty and suspicion, while Zoha offers her own perspective, leaving the emotional tension unresolved.
Directed by Fida Moin, the music video portrays the relationship through surreal and playful scenes in which everyday domestic moments take on exaggerated meanings. The narrative culminates in a birthday gathering descending into chaos. Production design by Tanya Mirza draws on Brutalism and German Expressionism, creating an imposing, unsettling domestic environment.
Coke Studio Nu.WAV Executive Producer Kamal Khan said the song’s underlying tension inspired the video’s unusual visual approach, balancing humour with uneasiness.
Maanu brings experience from Pakistan’s indie, pop and hip-hop scenes, while Zoha combines classical and ghazal influences with contemporary pop. Talal Qureshi is an established figure in Pakistan’s electronic music movement.
Written by Maanu and Zoha, the song is composed by Maanu and arranged by Maanu and Talal Qureshi. Shabnam is available on Coke Studio’s official digital platforms. It is the fourth of six planned Nu.WAV releases, following Dil, Rangeen and Maheya, with two more tracks expected in the coming weeks.
