Karachi: Syed Aman Shah, Provincial President of Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, has stated that an appropriate reduction in interest rates is essential to achieving economic stability, promoting business activities, and alleviating the economic difficulties faced by the public. The State Bank of Pakistan has increased the policy rate by 0.5 percentage points, raising it from 11.5% to 12%, a move that could place further financial pressure on the business community, industrialists, and investors.
He stated that high interest rates create significant challenges for the business community, industrialists, and investors, adversely affecting the national economy, employment opportunities, and the lives of ordinary citizens. He emphasized that, under the prevailing economic conditions, the government and relevant financial institutions should adopt policies that reduce the cost of doing business, encourage new investment, and create opportunities for industrial growth. An appropriate reduction in interest rates could stimulate business activities and help generate new employment opportunities.
Syed Aman Shah further stated that issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the declining purchasing power of the public have already reached alarming levels. Under these circumstances, it is essential that economic decisions take into account the challenges faced by ordinary citizens, small traders, industrialists, and the middle class. The government should take practical measures to ensure economic stability while providing meaningful relief to the public.
He added that Awaam Pakistan Party supports economic policies that strengthen the national economy, increase investment, facilitate the business community, and improve the standard of living of ordinary citizens. The benefits of economic growth should not remain confined to a limited segment of society but must reach all citizens across the country.
