KARACHI : Former FPCCI Vice President Tariq Haleem has urged the United Business Group (UBG) to unanimously nominate S.M. Tanveer for FPCCI president in December 2026, expressing hope that his leadership would strengthen the business community’s representation.
Haleem said Tanveer’s extensive industrial and trade experience, along with his stance against Independent Power Producers (IPPs), could help make the Federation more effective in addressing business concerns.
He stressed that the government must recognise FPCCI’s representative role and seriously consider its recommendations while formulating economic policies. Consultation with chambers, industrial associations and trade organisations is essential for sustainable economic growth, he added.
Highlighting challenges facing Pakistan’s economy, Haleem called for higher exports, increased investment, affordable energy, tax reforms and reduced business costs. He said frequent policy changes and economic uncertainty discourage investment and industrial expansion.
He emphasised that policy continuity, transparency, competitive energy prices and stronger public-private cooperation were crucial for boosting production, generating employment and restoring business confidence.
Haleem expressed hope that Tanveer’s leadership would protect business interests and promote exports, investment and economic development.
