RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN — Marking October 27, 2026, as a solemn reminder of regional human rights imperatives, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, observed Kashmir Black Day through a high profile guest speaker session and campus wide solidarity walk. The initiative was jointly organized by the Department of International Relations and the Law and Moot Society to reaffirm unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The event featured a keynote address by Mr. Altaf Hussain Wani, Chairman of the Institute of Kashmir International Relations (IKIR). Delivering an in-depth analysis of the conflict, Mr. Wani examined the historical trajectory, contemporary legal dynamics, and pressing humanitarian concerns surrounding the dispute. He underscored that securing the inalienable right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people remains essential for regional stability and urged sustained international diplomatic engagement and adherence to global legal frameworks.
The interactive lecture provided students and faculty with a rigorous platform to evaluate the geopolitical and international law dimensions of the issue. Following the session, a large assembly of students, faculty, and administrative staff led a solidarity walk across the campus. Carrying placards and posters bearing messages of support, participants demonstrated their collective commitment to fundamental human rights, civic responsibility, and justice for IIOJK.
Organized under the strategic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), the observance highlights FJWU’s dedication to academic diplomacy, civic awareness, and empowering young scholars to actively engage with critical international issues.
