PN Report
Karachi: Syed Aman Shah, Balochistan President of the Awaam Pakistan Party, said that lower electricity and gas prices, a lighter tax burden and reasonable interest rates are essential to keep industry running, stabilize the economy and promote business. He described Pakistan as facing one of its worst economic crises.
Calling the industrial and commercial sectors the backbone of economic development, he said expensive energy, heavy taxation and high interest rates are creating serious challenges for industry. He added that political instability and economic uncertainty have badly shaken the confidence of industrialists and investors, blocking new investment and making it harder for existing units to sustain production. Pakistani industrialists, he said, are losing competitiveness in international markets and struggling to secure export orders.
Shah urged the government to address industry’s problems on a priority basis with concrete measures, including a business-friendly environment and policy continuity to restore investor confidence. He called for policies that raise industrial output, create jobs and promote exports, and warned that denying relief to industry would hurt the economy, business activity and livelihoods.
