Hyderabad: Government departments have been directed to take coordinated steps to involve young people in positive social, cultural and creative activities, and to submit schedules of programmes planned for November and December. The directions came at a District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting on social and political affairs, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahwish Ejaz at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting reviewed public complaints, youth participation, minority affairs and departmental performance. It was told that most departments had made insufficient progress on decisions from the previous meeting, and officials were told to implement them and submit progress reports.
The minority affairs focal person was asked to provide details of October events and schedules for November and December. The Education Department’s primary and secondary wings were asked to submit schedules for December 25 events. The Culture Department briefed the meeting on planned awareness sessions, events and a photographic exhibition, and proposals for marking Quaid-e-Azam Day were discussed.
Departments including Culture, Sports, Minority Affairs and Auqaf were urged to involve youth in constructive activities, with the aim of keeping them away from extremism.
