APPSMA Seeks Adequate Time for Safety Inspections of Private Schools

City Desk

RAWALPINDI: The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA) has urged the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi to revise the schedule for safety inspections of private educational institutions, ensure adequate preparation time and prior notice, and include private schools’ representatives in inspection committees.

The demand was raised by APPSMA office-bearers, who expressed concerns over a notification issued by the district administration. They reaffirmed that students’ safety and security remained their top priority and supported inspections to ensure safe educational environments.

However, they stressed that the process should be transparent, systematic and practical. Conducting inspections without prior notice or with insufficient preparation time creates administrative difficulties, as technical assessments, expert consultations, procurement of safety equipment and building-related arrangements require adequate time.

The association noted that inspection teams include officials from the District Education Authority, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and relevant local government departments. Schools should therefore be informed in advance about the required safety measures, documentation and inspection procedures.

APPSMA reaffirmed its commitment to legal compliance and cooperation with the administration, emphasizing that inspections should promote guidance, improvement and stronger safety arrangements rather than become merely a formal exercise.
