Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Peoples Party Workers (PPPW), led by President Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi, has expressed profound grief over the tragic roof collapse at Al-Khair Education Center in Dir Colony, Peshawar, reportedly claiming the lives of 29 students, mostly under 13, and two female teachers, while leaving around 50 others seriously injured.
In a press statement, PPPW leaders, including former MNA Naheed Khan, Senior Vice Presidents Fayyaz Ali Khan and Advocate Amjad Baluch, and other party members, extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The party demanded an impartial, time-bound investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and fix responsibility. It also raised concerns over building safety standards and inspection procedures following similar incidents in Punjab.
PPPW called for immediate safety audits of public and private schools nationwide, urging authorities to close unsafe buildings until they meet prescribed standards.
The party stressed that protecting children’s lives was a fundamental responsibility and called for decisive action to prevent future tragedies.
