LAHORE : The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has intensified its crackdown on dangerous vehicle overloading across Punjab, issuing 11,752 e-challans this month to improve road safety and prevent accidents.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, AI-powered cameras integrated with the Virtual Traffic Management System detected 6,204 violations involving excess passengers and 5,548 cases of goods protruding beyond prescribed vehicle limits.
The system continuously monitors traffic and alerts enforcement teams to detected violations, enabling prompt action against offenders.
The spokesperson warned that overloaded buses carrying passengers beyond their permitted capacity pose serious risks, while protruding iron rods, steel bars and other materials transported on trucks and tractor-trolleys can endanger other road users, particularly motorcyclists.
The authority said technology-driven surveillance was strengthening traffic regulation and helping identify hazardous practices across the province.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the PSCA said strict action against dangerous overloading would continue. It urged transport operators and vehicle owners to observe passenger limits and comply with safe cargo-loading requirements to protect lives and prevent road accidents.
