ISLAMABAD : SOT Events launched its 20th edition, _Possible Worlds_, in Islamabad, bringing together leading voices to discuss the future of humanity. The Islamabad event is first of three, with Lahore and Karachi to follow.
The edition explores the future as possibilities shaped by today’s decisions, featuring eight sessions on learning and work, climate resilience, online safety, AI, beauty, geopolitics, conflict and the arts. Despite stormy weather, the event drew large audiences.
Highlights included ‘Who Owns Imagination?’, curated with Lahore Biennale Foundation, featuring Ali Azmat and a live DJ performance examining AI’s impact on creativity. A session with aestheticians and psychologists explored pressures of ideal appearance and AI’s role, while another debated whether AI is making us less human.
Syed Talat Hussain led a discussion with Dr Moeed Yusuf, Fahd Husain and Munizae Jahangir on shifting global power. Other sessions ‘Growing Up Online’ focused on protecting children from digital harm, and ‘Communities on the Climate Frontline’ on climate resilience.
Organised by Beaconhouse Group, SOT has evolved over 25 years into a key platform for public discourse. Possible Worlds moves to Lahore on Nov 28-29 at Faletti’s Hotel and Karachi on Dec 12 at Beach Luxury Hotel.
Chair SOT and CEO Beaconhouse Kasim Kasuri said taking Possible Worlds to three cities widens open exchange on issues affecting all. UBL is Lead Sponsor of SOT Events 2026.
