Bureau Report
Lahore : Punjab has achieved another milestone under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with the introduction of Pakistan’s first fully electric sweeper truck for road cleaning and washing.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the country’s first fully electric sweeper truck. She inspected the vehicle and witnessed its operation. The chief minister was also briefed on the project.
During the briefing, she was informed that the electric mechanical sweeper truck would be used for cleaning and washing roads on Lahore Ring Road. For the first time, the fully electric sweeper/broomer would also absorb and remove water from road surfaces.
The fully electric sweeper/broomer can operate over a range of up to 70 kilometres on a single charge. Its zero-carbon emissions will help reduce environmental pollution, while its operation will also minimise dust on roads.
The briefing further highlighted that the electric sweeper would help reduce noise pollution due to its lower noise levels. Its introduction would also eliminate substantial fuel and maintenance expenses.
