Faisalabad: Toba Tek Singh-born poet Dr. Rehana Qamar, a respected voice in Urdu literature, is arriving in Pakistan this month, her first visit since earning her doctorate. Literary circles have welcomed the news. Though based in the United States, she has kept a strong connection to Urdu language, Eastern traditions and poetic values.

She will make a special appearance at the 19th International Urdu Conference in Karachi and is expected to join “Jashn-e-Jaun Elia” and the Faisalabad Literary Festival.
In the first week of December, she will be a special guest at an international mushaira at Riphah International College, Faisalabad. The annual Rashk-e-Qamar International Mushaira, which she hosts and which draws poets from Pakistan and abroad, is also expected to be held again this year.
Known for her modern poetic tone and nuanced expression of feminine sensibilities, Dr. Qamar has published more than ten works and received numerous national and international awards.
