Ten Pakistani Climate Businesses Seek US$51 Million After UK-Backed Investor Roadshow in Karachi

PN Report

Karachi: Ten Pakistani businesses are seeking a combined US$51 million over the next 12 months to expand climate solutions, after receiving specialist UK Government support. They work in clean energy, transport, construction, farming and waste, and have a three-year investment pipeline worth US$120 million.

Through the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) Pakistan programme, implemented by DAI for the UK Government, each business received technical, financial, and gender equality and social inclusion support to sharpen its investment proposal. They presented to investors, banks and development finance institutions at a two-day roadshow on October 27-28, which also brought together government and industry representatives to discuss policy, regulatory and market barriers to private climate finance. Between 2022 and 2024, the programme supported 22 projects and helped mobilise US$40 million.

British Deputy High Commissioner Alison Blackburne said the UK’s partnership is focused on mobilising climate finance and strengthening resilience, with the UK-Pakistan Green Compact, signed last December, as its framework. Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah called climate change an economic and development challenge, saying government’s role is to create conditions for private capital to invest with confidence. CFA team lead Vardah Malik said the aim is to connect investor-ready businesses with funders and turn conversations into lasting partnerships.

The 2026 cohort spans agriculture and land use (A.S. Enterprises, TrashIt), waste and circular economy (Sahara Recycling, Waste Busters JV EnterTech), clean energy (Biowaste Energy Ventures, GoSeedIT, BioEnergy Solution), building and construction (EcoEdge AI) and e-mobility (BusCaro, Daewoo Express).
