Mirpur : A dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held on the lawns of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Circuit Branch Mirpur, to mark the 79th Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, hoisted the national flag. Supreme Court Judge Justice Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry was also present on the occasion. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police presented a guard of honour and saluted the national flag.
The ceremony was attended by former Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice (Retd.) Azam Khan; former ad hoc Supreme Court Judge Justice Masood A. Sheikh; former High Court Judges Justice (Retd.) Chaudhry Jahandad and Justice (Retd.) Rashid Sulheria; Advocate General of Azad Kashmir Raja Nadeem Khan; High Court Registrar Raja Shameeriz Khan; District and Sessions Judge Mirpur Jahangir Ahmed Jarral; former Minister of the Government Madam Nabeela Ayub; President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Fayyaz Haider Nawabi, Advocate; President of the District Bar Association Mirpur Babar Ali Khan, Advocate; President of the Bhimber Bar Association Chaudhry Gulzar Ahmed; President of the Samahni Bar Association Javed Akhtar; former Secretary General of the Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Zahid Hussain; former Secretary General of the Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Rashid Bashir, Advocate; and former President of the High Court Bar Association Waseem Younis, Advocate.
A large number of officers and employees of the Supreme Court Circuit Branch Mirpur, senior lawyers from the Supreme Court, High Court and District Bar Associations, officials of the divisional and district administrations, and journalists also attended the ceremony.
