Islamabad : Central Deputy Secretary Information, Pakistan Muslim League (Qayyum), Faisal Anwar, on the occasion of International Artist Day, said that an artist is the true face of any society and an ambassador of the nation, but unfortunately, artists in Pakistan are living in miserable conditions.
In his statement, he said that today many senior artists are severely ill and unable to get treatment because their sources of income have ended.
He said that Pakistan’s film industry has already collapsed due to lack of government support, and where cinemas once stood, today there are shopping plazas. PTV has also stopped its drama productions, due to which not only new artists but even senior artists are not getting a chance to showcase their talent.
Faisal Anwar demanded that the government immediately announce a monthly fund for artists and singers, and provide them with health cards and a welfare package. The government must understand that artists are the beauty of society and the identity of the country.
He said that Khan-e-Azam Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan himself was a great admirer of knowledge, literature and art. Under the leadership of PML (Qayyum) President Syed Saqlain Abbas Bukhari, the party will continue to raise its voice on every forum for the revival of the artists’ community.
