PPDA Thanks CM Maryam Nawaz for Swift Action on Petrol Pump Assault

Commerce Desk

KARACHI : The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for prompt action after alleged assault on a petrol pump employee in Lahore.

In a letter, Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh said the incident occurred at Shell Master Fuel Hub, Jubilee Town, where a man in a black Prado was asked to stop smoking inside the vehicle at the station. He allegedly responded by physically assaulting and verbally abusing the employee. Four women were present in the vehicle.

Khuda Bakhsh said employees enforce safety rules as smoking and mobile phone use at stations can cause fire and serious accidents. The employee, he said, acted responsibly in public interest but faced misconduct.

He said the Chief Minister’s timely intervention restored confidence and boosted morale of dealers and frontline staff who work in challenging conditions to ensure public safety.

The PPDA appreciated the action, noting dealers across Pakistan welcomed it, and expressed desire of its senior leadership to meet the Chief Minister to thank her personally and discuss safety, welfare and protection of dealers and employees.
