Pakistan Freelancers Hit Record $197M As Payoneer Says Global Platforms Make Stablecoin Core Infrastructure

Commerce Desk

As Pakistan’s IT and freelance exports hit a record $197 million in September 2026, Payoneer’s new report says the global platforms paying them are adopting stablecoin at scale.

Unveiled at Money20/20 Las Vegas, “Stablecoin Steps Up” surveyed 265 senior leaders at US-based marketplaces and enterprises with $100M+ revenue. It found 69% already use stablecoin in live operations, 41% at meaningful scale. Top proven benefits are faster settlement (50%), better market access (41%) and improved recipient experience (40%).

A third already offer stablecoin capabilities to customers, half plan to within three years, and 82% expect it to be part of their financial infrastructure.

Adoption often starts with recipients wanting dollar balances, a need relevant to Pakistan’s 3 million freelancers. Key hurdle remains the “last mile” conversion to local currency.

The findings come as Pakistan’s Virtual Assets Act 2026 created PVARA to regulate the sector. The regulator says cutting remittance costs by 1% on $40B annual flows could save $400M yearly.
