Islamabad: An open letter addressed to the American people claims Iran has won the war launched by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, and calls on Americans to rein in their government. Its authorship is not stated in the text provided. The letter’s claims are presented here as its own assertions, and many are contested or unverified.
The letter says the war began with an attack on a Minab elementary school, which it says killed 168 children, and the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. It puts Iranian deaths at over 3,600, including 400 children. It argues that Iran prevailed because the US and Israel failed to achieve their stated aims, which it says shifted repeatedly. It also claims Iranian strikes crippled US bases in the Gulf and that Iran now controls the Strait of Hormuz. It credits Iran’s success to Quranic faith, national unity and the leadership of new Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei.
It says the chant “Death to America” targets the ruling elite, not ordinary Americans, and defends the IRGC against the terrorist label. It recounts a history of US hostility toward Iran, from the 1953 coup to sanctions and past wars, and accuses Washington of lying about Iran’s nuclear programme.
The letter argues the US is in decline, citing debt above $40 trillion, poverty, endless wars, tariffs and what it calls the preoccupations of President Trump. It condemns Israel’s actions in Gaza and criticises US support for Israel.
It urges Americans to demand the closure of overseas bases, an end to aid to Israel, and leaders of integrity, citing Qur’anic and biblical verses and the Golden Rule. It warns that continued US policy risks global backlash and economic upheaval, and says Iran bears no hostility toward the American people.(Complete PDF copy of orginal letter issued by Iranian embassy islamabad letter to USA (1) )
