KARACHI: Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) has received two prestigious awards, “Best Turnaround Microfinance Bank” and “Best Housing Finance MFB,” at the Pakistan Microfinance Network’s 10th Annual Microfinance Conference (AMC-X).
Organised by PMN in collaboration with UNIDO under the EU-funded PAIDAR programme, the conference recognised KMBL’s financial recovery and contributions to affordable housing and financial inclusion.
President and CEO Aameer Karachiwalla attributed the achievements to effective risk management, lower deposit costs, improved loan recovery, stronger portfolio quality and investment in technology.
The bank recorded a remarkable financial turnaround in FY2025, moving from a loss of Rs3.6 billion in FY2024 to a pre-tax profit of Rs4 billion, representing a Rs7.6 billion improvement. Its portfolio at risk for 90 days or more declined from 6.2% to 3.8%.
KMBL also reported 47% growth in housing finance borrowers and a 56% expansion in its housing portfolio. By September 2026, total housing and home improvement disbursements reached Rs21 billion. The bank also supported government-backed housing schemes for low-income households, strengthening access to affordable finance nationwide.
