Faisalabad: Mian Tahir Ayub, the newly elected District Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami, took the oath of office at a District Shura meeting held at the district secretariat in Chiniot Bazaar. Provincial Emir Javed Kasuri, former District Emir Professor Mahboob-uz-Zaman Butt, party officials and workers attended.
Ayub described Jamaat-e-Islami as an ideological movement dedicated to Dawah and public service, aiming to establish a just system guided by the Quran and Sunnah and to protect people’s fundamental rights. He called the post of Emir a sacred trust rather than a title, and vowed to make Faisalabad a stronghold of the party in the upcoming local and national elections. He said the party will remain a voice for the deprived and oppressed.
Kasuri said the party, under Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, is campaigning against extortionary levies and for abolition of the petroleum levy, backed by alternative policy proposals. He claimed the party’s protests against Independent Power Producers forced negotiations that saved Rs4.5 trillion. He said the movement will continue until the levy is abolished, and argued that only an honest, competent democratic organization like Jamaat-e-Islami can improve Pakistan’s global image.
