FAISALABAD : Regional Police Officer (RPO) Inam-ur-Rehman Malik has directed the City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad and district police officers (DPOs) of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot to ensure strict enforcement of the Kite Flying Ordinance and take effective measures to prevent kite flying across the region.
The RPO said kite flying had resulted in fatal incidents in the past, causing the loss of precious human lives. He directed the district police chiefs to identify areas where the law was being violated, in coordination with the Special Branch, and launch targeted operations against those involved.
He ordered the formation of special teams at the district level to take action against kite flyers, sellers and those involved in manufacturing kites and related equipment. He also called for a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the law and directed the police to launch public awareness campaigns through print and electronic media to highlight the dangers associated with kite flying.
RPO Inam Ur Rehman Malik urged parents to prevent their children from engaging in the dangerous activity and cooperate with the police and administration in enforcing the ban.
He further warned that strict departmental action would be taken against the relevant station house officer (SHO) and sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) if any untoward incident occurred due to kite flying in their respective jurisdictions.
Protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost priority of the police, RPO added.
