KARACHI, October 14: Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, has renewed its partnership with the BYD Karachi Marathon for the second consecutive year and announced She Runs, an initiative to promote women’s participation in running.
She Runs will fund a structured 10-week marathon training programme for 10 selected women from Karachi ahead of the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027, scheduled for January 3. Participants will receive guidance in endurance training, nutrition, physiotherapy, safety and well-being.
MMC Senior General Manager Anum Abdullah said the initiative aims to empower women by providing professional training and support to help them prepare for and complete a full marathon.
Karachi Marathon Founder Shoaib Nizami said the 2027 event would promote inclusivity and introduce a category for differently abled participants.
Pakistan’s first World Athletics-Certified marathon, the event will feature full marathon, half marathon, relay and 5K categories. Under its Vision 2032, it aims to create pathways for Pakistani runners to compete internationally and pursue Olympic qualification.
