Amazon.com has released Ukraine War – Beyond the Headlines: An Alternative Narrative on the Crisis, by Pakistani journalist and geopolitical analyst Munir Ahmed, for international readers. The 235-page book, published on October 6, 2026, offers a South Asian perspective on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and challenges dominant Western narratives. It carries a preface by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Asad Durrani, former head of the ISI and Military Intelligence.

Rather than focusing on battlefield developments, Ahmed examines the competing interests of major powers, the erosion of European security arrangements, NATO’s eastward expansion, Russia’s stated security concerns and the diplomatic failures that preceded and prolonged the war. He also covers sanctions, information warfare, and the humanitarian and economic fallout, including energy insecurity, food disruption and inflation in developing countries.
Ahmed argues the war cannot be understood through daily reports alone and says Global South countries have borne serious economic consequences without any real influence over the decisions driving the confrontation. The book questions whether diplomacy was adequately prioritised over escalation.
Ahmed is founder and executive director of Devcom-Pakistan and Devcom Network International, with over three decades of experience. The book, published by Devcom Publishing, costs $21.95 on Amazon.com and other participating marketplaces.
